Canadian company is supporting local food banks during time of crisis<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario (April 21, 2020): Dare Foods Ltd. today announced it has donated 100,000 boxes of Bear Paws Cookies to Food Banks Canada in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The popular kids\u2019 cookie has been distributed to locations identified by Food Banks Canada with the greatest need. The donation is part of a commitment to support communities in these difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food banks are seeing dramatic increases in demand and as the global COVID-19 outbreak continues, Food Banks Canada is concerned about the shortage of food supplies. In Canada, 34% of food bank users are children.1<\/sup> That equates to thousands of children who struggle to get enough food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a family-owned Canadian company, it\u2019s important to us that we support our local communities,\u201d said Peter Luik, President of Dare Foods. \u201cAt Dare, we recognize how fortunate we are and we understand it\u2019s a tough time for a lot of Canadians and we want to offer our support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As COVID-19 continues to take a toll, Dare Foods has remained fully operational as an essential service in Canada\u2019s food supply chain. The Cambridge-based CPG company is working to continue to keep its employees healthy and safe, taking recommended safety measures including social distancing, mandatory scanning upon entry of manufacturing facilities, increased sanitation, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile food production is crucial during this time, it is critical that the safety and health of our employees is prioritized,\u201d said Luik. \u201cWe are following the government\u2019s guidelines to ensure our employees remain healthy and production continues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
